America had electric cars 100 years ago - then the industry buried them for profit

Electric cars were already beating gas-powered vehicles more than 100 years ago, with quieter engines, easier driving, and successful races against gasoline competitors in American cities. But despite their early success, electric vehicles were pushed aside by oil interests, mass-produced gas cars, industry lobbying, and cultural marketing that reshaped the future of transportation. This video explores how companies like GM later repeated the pattern by crushing successful electric car programs like the EV1, and why many believe America delayed the electric vehicle revolution for decades. It also examines how politics, infrastructure, and corporate interests continue shaping the future of transportation today.

Photos: Remote-controlled Tesla Cybertruck hits 111 mph before massive crash test

A full-size Tesla Cybertruck hit 111 mph at a private racetrack before crashing into a parked Ford F-150 during a recent test by WhistlinDiesel and Prop Department. The team converted the truck into a remote-controlled vehicle in just three days. They used motors, mechanical linkages, wiring, and an FPV camera so a person could control the Cybertruck from outside the cabin. Prop Department had just three days to finish the conversion. They used parts already in their workshop instead of waiting for new ones. The team took out the front seats to fit the equipment and bolted in a custom frame with laser-cut brackets to keep everything secure during testing. A stepper motor was attached to the Cybertruck’s steering wheel using an adapter made for its steering column. This setup let the remote operator turn the wheel left or right. The system gave direct mechanical control without changing the truck’s main driving software.

10 Suzukis that refused to die & 10 that never found an audience

Suzuki has spent decades making some of the most stubbornly reliable vehicles on the planet, the kind that outlive their own marketing budgets. It has also produced a genuinely strange run of flops that vanished from showrooms within a couple of years. Both sides say something about the company, since Suzuki tends to succeed when it keeps things small and simple, and struggles the moment it tries to compete somewhere it doesn't belong. The survivors kept going through emissions crackdowns and entire market exits, while the failures barely made it past their second model year. Here's 10 Suzukis that refused to die, and 10 that never found an audience.

1,020HP Tesla Plaid faces 1,000HP McLaren 720S drag race

A 1,020-horsepower Tesla Model S Plaid takes on a modified McLaren 720S Spider producing roughly 1,000 horsepower at the engine. The McLaren uses upgraded downpipes, air filters, and custom tuning to produce approximately 850 horsepower at the wheels. The Tesla relies on three electric motors, all-wheel drive, and instant torque to deliver strong acceleration from a complete stop. Before racing, its battery is at approximately 73 percent, which reduces some of its performance compared with a full charge. Plaid Mode and Drag Strip Mode are activated to prepare the electric drivetrain for the quarter-mile runs. The McLaren enters the matchup with a major weight advantage and strong acceleration once speeds begin to rise. From the starting line, the Tesla uses its immediate power delivery to gain an early advantage. The lighter McLaren then works to close the gap farther down the track with its tuned twin-turbo performance. The quarter-mile results show the two cars running extremely close despite using completely different approaches to straight-line speed. The matchup demonstrates how battery charge, vehicle weight, launch traction, and high-speed power delivery can determine the outcome between two cars with similar horsepower.
